Since wood has its on natural color, printing directly on wood can affect the colors of the reproduction, making them more yellow than they appear on the original image and on your screen. White pixels aren't printed on the wood so the wood's natural color replaces the white shades of the original image.
Wood with a white underbase
We can reproduce art prints on wood previously layered with a thin white base coat, so the color of the wood has a lesser impact on the reproduction's original colors. Also, the white areas on the original image will remain white on the wood print. However, the wood surface remains visible as well as its natural features.
