The term Contemporary art refers to art, particularly figurative art, produced by contemporary artists and perceived as significant in that particular historical context. It usually refers to international contemporary art, unless it refers to a narrower time frame, such as "nineteenth-century contemporary art." Contemporary art includes all genres of art, such as architecture, painting, sculpture, photography, video, performance, conceptual art, etc., and should be distinguished from Modern art.
